Born in the Bronx, New York, and deeply influenced by her Indo-Guyanese roots, she combines vibrant elements with timeless traditions. Her creations capture the beauty and depth of her heritage, resulting in pieces that are both captivating and lasting.
Nutan’s trajectory into fashion began early, with part-time retail roles at brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, H&M, and Zara during her school years. Her deep commitment to the industry led her to pursue formal education at Katherine Gibbs School for Fashion Design and Merchandising, followed by studies in Sustainable Fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She honed her skills with an internship at Industrial Cotton and gained valuable industry experience working in Technical Design for Intimate and Loungewear. Her career expanded to include Infant, Children’s, Missy, Junior, Plus Size, and Men’s Ready-to-Wear Apparel, where she learned the intricacies of the business from seasoned professionals.
In 2022, Nutan launched Di Rani, a brand that blends the cultural depth of her Indo-Guyanese heritage with the spontaneity and vibrancy of everyday life. Influenced by the dynamic spirit of the Bronx, the timeless traditions of her roots, and a profound commitment to global aesthetics, her collections are a tapestry of emotions, desires, and lived experiences.
